Mentoring into Work

Sanctuary Australia FoundationBlog, Employment, Refugees into work and business

Sanctuary’s Mentor into Work Program has been successful in finding jobs for former refugees in Coffs Harbour. Once refugees have work, they feel more confident and connected with their new community.

Hussein, an Iraqi refugee is shown working in his new job as a barber.
Hussein loves his new job and his new boss Greg couldn’t be happier.

One example is Hussein from Sinjar, Iraq which came under attack from ISIS in 2014. Close family members were murdered and others kidnapped for ransom. It has been a terrible experience for the family. They finally arrived in Coffs Harbour in December 2017.

With Sanctuary’s help, Hussein has found work locally as a barber.
He is very popular with clients and happy to be working again. With
the support of his employer, Greg Edwards, he has completed his Certificate 3 in Barbering.
