Gillian Triggs, Emeritus Professor, President of the Australian Human Rights Commission, was appointmented by the Commonwealth Attorney-General in 2012. She was Dean of the Faculty of Law and Challis Professor of International Law at the University of Sydney, Director of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law. She is a former Barrister with Seven Wentworth Chambers and a Governor of the College of Law.
Gillian is a strong advocate for refugee’s human rights and increasing the humanitarian intake during the Syrian refugee crisis.

David Manne is a human rights lawyer and migration agent, and Executive Director of Refugee Legal (previously the Refugee & Immigration Legal Centre (RILC)). He has worked in various capacities assisting refugees and asylum seekers for over 20 years. In January 2001, he joined Refugee Legal, which has been at the forefront of defending the rights, the dignity and the lives of asylum seekers, refugees and disadvantaged migrants.

Associate Prof. Munjed Al Muderis is an orthopaedic surgeon and a clinical lecturer at Macquarie University and The Australian School Of Advanced Medicine.
He fled from war-torn Iraq, came to Australia as a refugee by boat, spent months in a detention centre and went on to become a world famous pioneering surgeon.

Jack Thompson, OAM, is a strong refugee advocate. He has acted in movies – The Man from Snowy River, Australia, Star Wars, Mao’s Last Dancer, The Sum of Us, ‘Breaker’ Morant, Broken Arrow and many others. He has also starred in many TV series.
He has been witness to the work of Sanctuary in his local community and has previously been a speaker at Sanctuary events.

Steve Biddulph, Psychologist, Human Rights Advocate and one of the world’s best known parenting authors. Steve has been a long-time supporter of Sanctuary and is a big campaigner concerning human rights issues.
Steve has run fundraisers for Sanctuary’s work and often drops in for a cup of tea.

Kate Atkinson, co-founder of Actors for Refugees, Actor in theatre, film and TV series including Wentworth, Jack Irish, Seachange, Offspring, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and Blue Heelers. She also has a degree in International Politics.
Kate is proud to play a part in Sanctuary’s work and has been a great supporter of Sanctuary’s education program.

Alice Garner, co-founder of Actors for Refugees, Refugee Advocate, Actor in the TV series such as Secret Life Us, SeaChange and films Jindabyne, Love and Other Catastrophes. She is also a published author.
