Donate laptops to refugee students in need

In a world where education, jobs, and community services are accessed online, not having a laptop doesn’t just hold you back – it cuts you off.

At Sanctuary Australia Foundation, we see the real-life impact. Newly arrived refugee students in Coffs Harbour are already overcoming barriers — a new language, unfamiliar systems — but many fall further behind because they don’t have a basic tool: a computer.

These laptops have come in handy at crucial times, like when someone has to find a new rental property and only has a short time to do so or studying English at home with a new born baby. So many students need to be able to do their school work online. Teachers have remarked at how this support has really made a difference to students.

How your company can help

Companies can make a social impact and an environmental one by donating good quality used machines to refugees when they do their companies IT upgrade. Thanks to funding from the Sisters of Charity we have been able to continue this vital program, but funding is always needed to support the recycling of the laptops, which take time and effort to source and prepare.

“It’s heart-warming to know our donation found a deserving home. We worked for 20 years in remote Indigenous communities and understand the deep impact of this opportunity.”

— Graeme and Denise Mathews, laptop donors

That’s why we’re proud to continue our Laptop Program, partnering with organisations like ETC Employment and Training and LGT Crestone Wealth Management to ensure no child is left behind in the digital age.

Make an impact today – Donate your used laptops.

We appreciate all of the generous support we have received but there are still many more newly arrived students from a refugee background needing this assistance.

“Sanctuary’s support with technology is amazing. It really helps new families connect with the services they need. Your kindness, patience, and generosity have made a real difference in our lives.”

— W. Shokri, refugee student from Syria, who now works in Pathology.

Help refugee families stay connected, learn, and succeed. Please consider donating your company’s used good condition laptops this year, to go to families who would not otherwise have a laptop. Get in touch via our contact page.
